Question 1

Is my image uploaded to a server?

Accepted Answer

No. Resizing happens locally with the Canvas API. Your image never leaves your device.

Question 2

What size does YouTube recommend?

Accepted Answer

1280 × 720 pixels (16:9). This tool outputs exactly that size.

Question 3

Will the image be stretched?

Accepted Answer

No. Cover mode crops the edges to fill the frame; contain mode keeps the whole image with padding.

Question 4

Is it free?

Accepted Answer

Yes, free with no sign-up.

Question 5

What is the maximum file size for a YouTube thumbnail?

Accepted Answer

YouTube accepts thumbnails up to 2 MB, at least 640 pixels wide, in JPG, PNG, GIF or WebP. A 1280 × 720 JPG from this tool is usually well under that limit.
